A Precious Easter Bunnie:)

Good morning stamping friends!!! I hope your week has been kind to you:)  This week's challenge at SCACD Friends with Heart Challenge blog they want to see your A-R-T...
  1. A = ANY stamp from SCACD
(Please note, the stamp must physically be in the store, not just the company-thanks!)
  2. R = RIBBON
  3. T = TWO patterned/ designer papers
This month, their opening month, the prize is a $50 gift certificate to SCACD!!! How KEWL is that!! But, in order to qualify...you have to play along.

When I saw what this week's challenge was all about, I knew I had to get inky with the mega-talented ladies at the Friends with Heart Challenge:)  I have been eying this adorable stamp and the patterned papers for about two weeks...so, this challenge gave me a very good reason to put them to use. Sad to say...I have had this precious Bunnie stamp for...ahem...forever, and haven't inked her up in too long. I know she was sad...along with the patterned papers...such a bad stamping mommy!!! Shame on me!!! Promise...I will do better...especially with such fabulous challenges around to inspire me to show equal attention to all my crafty babies:)

Bunnie was colored with Prismacolor markers; and believe it or not, I didn't add any sparkle to her Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net!!! Can you believe it?! I am still struggling with that myself, but I really wanted to keep this card simple. And, with all the sparkle in the patterned paper, I don't think Bunnie minds. Oh! DO you see the teensy, yellow pearls in the corner? They were made with a Viva Decor pearl pen:) I tell ya, that stuff totally ROCKS!!!As much as I love to embellish my cards with pearls...it is total awesomeness to be able to make my own:)

For the card's interior, I decided to ink up a Studio G stamp my hubby purchased for me last year...another neglected stamp:( I colored this sweet, Easter basket with Prismacolor markers and pretty much left it at that.

Here are a few more fabulous challenges that inspired me to create today's card:
Well, it is time for me to head on outta here...we have LOTS to do this wonderful Thursday morning:) I hope your day is filled with fabulous surprises!!! Thank you so much for dropping by:)

Blessings and Hugs!!!

Egg Inspired Gifties:)

Good morning!! I can definitely tell you that I have been making a joyful and grateful noise these past few days!!! God has definitely showered us with blessings, and I am praising Him as loudly and as often as I can!!!  I don't know if you are aware of this; but this past Saturday, multiple tornadoes touched down in North Carolina. We live in Cumberland County...just outside North Fayetteville, a hop, skip and a jump from Dunn and Sanford... and about 45 minutes from Raleigh. Needless to say, we were in the midst of a potential disaster. The areas all around us look like a war zone...a housing development five minutes from our front door was totally destroyed, my mother's neighborhood, my husband's workplace, and my son's school were all hit...and all of us are okay!!!  Yes, we have friends who are going through a very trying time right now by having their homes wrecked...but all of our friends and family survived!!!  Yes, I am a very thankful woman!!!  Please, say a prayer for all those who are rebuilding and for those who lost loved ones in these storms. Prayers are free and can move mountains...I cannot imagine a more precious gift than that!!!

Now let's talk about today's projects. This week's challenge at Creative Inspirations Paint is "EGGS"...so, I thought I would get a few Easter gifties together.  I dug out a few of my inexpensive plastic eggs and decided to give them a facelift by jazzing them up with a few coats of paint.  The first thing I did was lightly sand them...this makes the paint adhere to the egg.  Then, I put on a coating of white acrylic paint...this served as a primer to allow the true color of the paints I selected to shine...you know how bright most of the plastic eggs are.  Once the white paint was dry, I sponged Sapphire on one egg and Peach on the other. When this layer dried, I sponged on Aqua Marine (over the Sapphire) and Rose Quartz (over the Peach). As the eggs were drying, I started working on the cards.

I kept the layouts for both cards VERY simple. Keeping them simple makes it much easier to make quite a few in a short period of time. For the card above, I used Aqua Marine (birdie), Tanzanite (light blue around music notes), Rose Quartz (polka dots on birdie's wing) and Sunshine (around flourishes and the tiny hearts). I love all the sparkle on this card...and since it is going to a little girl, I think she will get a kick out of the sparkle too:)

Now that the eggs were dry, I gathered up some yummy Easter candy and threw them into the freshly painted eggs. Then, I simply threaded grosgrain ribbon through a rhinestone ribbon slide and tied it in a knot. Doing this makes it much easier for the recipient to get to the candy quickly:)

Above is another super, simple card. This sweet image was painted with Rose Quartz (blossom and dots in the butterfly), Sunshine (flourishes and center of the blossom), Aqua Marine (butterfly), Mint, Buttercup and Plum (dots in butterfly). I do hope these are enjoyed! If nothing else, it comes with candy, right? I know one thing, I will definitely be painting more plastic eggs with these awesome paints!! I think they made these eggs look glamorous!!! A huge difference from the eggs I brought home from Wally World...and I got 6 eggs for .97! Sure can't wait until they clearance these out;)

Today's project was inspired by the following fabulous challenges:
Thank you for dropping by, and don't forget to show us your lovely egg inspired creations in this week's Creative Inspirations Paint challenge. Have a wonderfully blessed week!!!

HUGS!!

Here Fishy...Fishy...Fishy!!!!

Did my title confuse you? It confused my husband. He was like..."Carolyn, that's a BIRDbath"...(insert questionable, concerned face here:} I told him it was because once upon a time, a mischievous little girl gave a sweet, tiny goldfish a new home IN the birdbath. You are probably scratching your head as he scratched his...then I told him I was pretending it was a goldfish because I once put MY goldfish, Goldie, in the birdbath when I was a little girl:) Dad wasn't very happy...and I don't think Goldie liked it much either; but in my little girl mind, I was in the midst of creating my own personal, outdoor aquarium. Hey, it wasn't MY fault...Dad was the one who took me to Marine World every other weekend. I just wanted to create my own Marine World...starting with Goldie as my main attraction. Don't worry though...no fishies were harmed in the making of my amateur aquarium:)

Okay, enough silliness, today's card features the recently released and oh so adorable stamp ~ Hey Birdie Peeker that was created by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD Stamp Company. I found this sweetie irresistibly CUTE, and could not wait to ink her up...and she is just one of FIVE precious images in The Peekers Collection at SCACD, and I {{heart}} them all!!! "Hey Birdie" is colored with Prismacolor markers, and I kept the card extremely simple. In all honesty, what else do you need with an image as darling as this? To create the dimension in her hat, I pulled out my Viva Decor red pearl pen, and the water in the birdbath has a touch of Creative Inspirations paint in Blue Ice coated with a bit of Diamond Glaze to add some shine to the sparkle. For the "goldfish", I added the sparkle with a Copic Atyou Spica glitter pen in Buttermilk.

Today's card was inspired by the following FABULOUS challenges:
I hope I was able to bring a hint of inspiration to you today...and if nothing else, some smiles:) Thank you so very much for dropping by!!! Your visits always brighten my day!!

HAPPY HUGS!!!

You see, I was incredibly blessed to meet Heather through the House Mouse & Friends Challenge Blog. At first, we left comments on each others blogs...then, we sent emails back and forth...until one day, we decided to speak to one another via phone. Now, we talk to each other almost every other day:) My family even knows when I haven't spoken to my darling Heather...I suppose I can get a bit snappy when I don't get my TOC fix:) What can I say...she keeps me sane!!!
I also selected this particular image because she LOVES Krispy Kreme Donuts...and doesn't it look like those cuties are celebrating? Here is a pic of us celebrating the first time we met IRL (please forgive my bad hair day...yes, it's time to hit the hairdresser...I just prefer ball caps and/or ponytails...so not a girly-girl):

Dream BIG!

Hello!!!! My apologies for not posting in a while, but things are SUPER busy in my little corner of the world:} I hope your week has been going beautifully!!! Today, I wanted to show you a card I created using one of the new stamps from The Peekers Collection at SCACD and this sweetie is named "Daydreaming Peeker". She was created by Elisabeth Bell exclusively for SCACD Stamp Co., and isn't she a doll baby? I love her...probably because she reminds me of my niece, Savannah...she {{HEARTS}} her tutus and I {{HEART}} her!!!

This little darling was colored with Prismacolor markers, and the color palette was inspired by this week's Etsy Inspired Challenge. They are showcasing the lovelies available at Think Fast Designs...and I chose to use the beautiful colors in THIS gorgeous, vintage pendant. I was quite fortunate to have fallen in love with this particular necklace cuz I recently received the stunning Bo Bunny papers from the Gabrielle Collection...which has some sheets that match these colors perfectly:) BINGO! BANGO! BAM! I love it when these things simply fall into place!! Don't you? Of course, it very seldom works out so easily for me...usually, I struggle to find the "right" papers and embellies...BUT not this time:) Wahoo!! I am enjoying the moment! Heeheehee...

I don't know if you can see it in the above photo, but a coating of Creative Inspirations Paint in Fairy Dust was painted on her adorable tutu and her jewelry box...just to add a touch of sparkle. For a bit more sparkle, a teensy bit of Stickles was added to her hair accessory and the ballerina (in the jewelry box) along with hints of Viva Decor Pearl Pen to adorn the exterior of the jewelry box. What can I say....you know how I l-o-v-e my sparkle;)

Well, I think I have taken up enough of your Thursday. I hope your day is overflowing with blessings, laughter and love! Thank you SO much for dropping by! I will be back tomorrow with something fun:) Have an AWESOME day!!!!

Today's card was also inspired by the following amazing challenges:

Good Morning and happy weekend eve, my friends!!! It is the OFFICIAL release day for the awesomely sweet "Peekers" Collection by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD Stamp Company:O) I am SOOOOOOO excited I could *~*POP*~*!!!! Today, we will be teaming up with the mondo talented ladies of the Quixotic Paperie DT along with a few special guests:) Fun stuff and loads of inspiration ahead!!! You should have arrived here from Suzanne's awesome blog. If you didn't and arrived here first, then you will want to head on over to the top of the hop at Kim's magnificent blog.

Today, I have the pleasure of sharing "New Beginnings Peeker" :) Isn't this image the definition of darling?!? I don't have any daughters, but I remember Jonathon peeking in on Zachary just like this:):) Oh how they grow SO fast!!! I still cannot believe that my baby boy will be graduating in June! It seems like just yesterday I was pushing HIM around in a stroller. Okay...enough of my rambling...I just love this collection of sweeties cuz they seem to have a way of taking me down memory lane:)

I couldn't decide if I wanted to create a card for a baby boy or a baby girl, so I simply created both. And when I say simply...I mean simply. These cards took no time at all to whip up, which is awesome when you are crunched for time. These sweeties were colored with Prismacolor markers and parts of the image were painted with Creative Inspirations Paint (Fairy Dust). I wanted you to get an idea of the shimmer these paints create on your projects, which is why there are two pics of each card...and with Fairy Dust it is sheer...you can see the marker beneath:o) I just love these paints!!! Thank you Susana for introducing them to me!!

OOOH!! Want to hear another thing I love? You can get the ENTIRE set of Peekers for only $29.99...that's about $6 per stamp!!! Can you believe it? You can't beat that for deeply etched, quality red rubber...along with Susana's superb customer service!!! I simply love a great deal when it comes to crafty goodies...makes it easier for goodies to go from my "wish list" to my "got it" list:) Please tell me you can relate.

Thank you so much for joining us in today's Peekalicious Hop!!! I hope you leave the hop happy and inspired:) Your next stop is lovely Anki!!! I know she will have a gorgeous creation to share with you! Have a super Friday and a beautifully blessed weekend!!!

Final Peekie at the Peekers & Blog Candy Ends TONIGHT:)

Good morning, everyone:o)
If you are here for the Jesus Is THE Reason Blog Hop, please go HERE!

If you are here to take a final peek at the soon-to-be released stamps by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD Stamp Company, then you are in the right place:) Today, I have the pleasure of showing you the precious stamp, "Waiting For You...Peeker". I must say, this stamp touched my heart in many ways and so much so it literally brought me to tears. Growing up in a military family, my father was often deployed...and even when he was home, he worked extremely late hours. As a little girl, I was THIS image...constantly running to the window every time I heard a car go by hoping to see my daddy coming up the driveway. I was definitely a daddy's girl; and I remember how my heart would jump and a smile would take over my face when my daddy was home:) This July marks the tenth year of my daddy's death, and this beautiful stamp brought back joyful, loving memories of my childhood and the great love a little girl has for her daddy...her hero:)

Another reason this stamp touches my heart is from a parent's perspective. My oldest son, Jonathon, has followed in his grandfather's and father's footsteps and is now a military man. Recently, he came home from Iraq...and I found myself acting out this image once again. If you are familiar with the military, you know that you very seldom get an actual date of arrival...generally, it is between this date and that...so as Jonathon's date drew closer, I found myself once again scurrying to the window every time I heard a car go by...hoping I would see him standing in the doorway:) Yes, I ADORE this precious stamp!!!

Actually, this card is for Jonathon...hence the more masculine colors and no glitter. He is now back in Iraq, and I miss him terribly!!! And as the Lockhart sentiment says, I am "just waiting for him" to come home again so I can hug him, hear his laughter, see his handsome face and know he' safe:)

Thank you for stopping by!!! I hope you have enjoyed the past week of peeks of the soon-to-be released Peekers by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD Stamp Company. Tomorrow, the stamps will be available for purchase at SCACD and at Quixotic Paperie for European customers...ALSO, we will be having a blog hop to celebrate the release of these precious stamps. I hope you will be able to hop along with us:o) AND, if you haven't entered the drawing for the awesome blog candy, it ends tonight at 7 PM (PDT). For all the yummy details, GO HERE!!!

HAPPY HUGS!!!
Carolyn

Jesus Is THE Reason Blog Hop!

"Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die." ~John 11:25-26

Good morning friends!:o) You should have arrived here from sweet Kadie's beautiful blog :) If not, you will want to go HERE...the top of the hop.

Similar to this past December's "Jesus Is The Reason for the Season" Hop, Heather Dennis and Catherine are hosting a blog hop for Easter/Resurrection Sunday! This idea was first suggested by a comment Catherine received on a hop post, and between her and Heather, they felt moved by the Holy Spirit to act. Just as with Christmas, the secular focus of Easter (e.g. bunnies, decorated eggs, and baskets of candy) has become so prevalent, that the real cause for celebration (Jesus and His resurrection following His sacrifice upon the cross) is often overshadowed. Taking to heart the Lord's command that as followers of Christ, we are to be light and salt to this world, our hope is that through this hop, we can reach out to others in love to share the Good News with both the saved and the lost. For today's hop, we were asked to create a project (card, scrap layout, or altered item) of faith in celebration of Christ's victory over death. Thank you, Heather and Catherine for inviting me to join the both of you in this remarkably inspirational hop!!!

"And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name." ~Romans 1:4-5

This hop is not intended to promote any particular stamp company or to solicit sponsorship...its sole purpose is to promote the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ to give us sinners a chance at salvation and eternal life.
"And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise." ~Hebrews 10:19-23

While we cannot even begin to reciprocate the Lord's gift to us, there is "blog candy" on some of the hop stops as a token of appreciation for your comments and encouragement. We also invite you to celebrate the real "Reason for the Season" by posting your own creation celebrating Christ's Resurrection. There is a place to link on Catherine's blog, and a prize is up for grabs for one randomly selected card/project.

I hope you have found some inspiration here today:) Thank you so very much for hopping along with us and celebrating the greatest love...God's love for us!!! Your next stop is Paola:)

In the event you lose your spot along the hop, below you will find the entire hop order:
Me:o)

Have a wonderfully blessed day, my friends!!!! And as you hunt for decorative eggs and eat chocolate bunnies on Easter Sunday...remember, Jesus IS the reason for the season!!!

HAPPY {{{HUGS}}}!!!!
Carolyn

"Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God." ~Ephesians 3:17-19

Spring Is In the Air!

Hello!!! How are you doing today? I hope your day is going BEAUTIFULLY!!!  I am extremely excited and honored to be one of the newest additions to the Creative Inspirations DT Family:o) I was first introduced to these incredible paints by Susana about a year ago, and it was love at first sight! As a papercrafter/card maker, shimmer and sparkle are an absolute must-have in my creative arsenal...so, these paints find much love on my projects. For me, they are a necessity! If you have never tried them, you truly do not know what you are missing!!!  They are beautiful...easy to use...incredibly versatile (just check out all the fab tutorials HERE)...quite inexpensive...and a little goes a LONG way!

For today's card, I was inspired by this week's Creative Inspirations Challenge- "Spring". I don't know about you, but when I think of springtime, I envision butterflies fluttering about:) I thought about what I would like to create and opted to dust off some crafty goodies that have been sorely neglected...a beautiful Dreamweaver brass stencil (Vertical Butterflies), an embossing stylus and a light box. Do you remember using these before embossing folders hit store shelves?  The stencil used on this project is very narrow...perfect for a bookmark, but not so great for a card...so, I embossed three panels to create my background. I painted the dry embossed butterflies with Tutu Pink CI Paint to add a touch of color and to give it tons of sparkle. Since I am not a skilled photographer, I had a bit of difficulty capturing its true beauty:(

For the butterfly above, I inked up one of my PTI butterfly stamps and painted it with more Tutu Pink CI Paint. I just love all the shimmer it added!! Since the stamped image was too big for the bow, I pulled out my trusty MS butterfly punch and let it do its work...now, it fit on the bow perfectly:) Then, I added the dots and the body with some Viva Decor Pearl Pens in Ice White and Black.

This was a really fun card to make, and it felt really good showing some of my neglected goodies some much needed love.  I hope you found a little creative inspiration today, and look forward to seeing your Springtime creations in this week's Creative Inspirations challenge:o) Thanks for dropping by, and have a beautifully blessed day!!!!
