RELEASE DAY at SCACD!!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!

Yes, today is a wonderful day...the end of the week AND the awesome, new "Sweet Meets Sassy Collection #2" by Victoria Case for SCACD is NOW available for purchase...both at SCACD and for our European customers at Quixotic Paperie:):):) I hope you enjoyed our week of spotlights! I know we had a *blast* sharing all the beauties and cuties from this collection with you. I hope you have visited the STORE BLOG to see the stunning creations created by three of my talented design team sisters...a few of them have yet to be revealed...so you won't want to miss them!!

Today, I have a card made with the precious stamp "Thinking of You" by Victoria Case for SCACD, and she is from the "Hearts & Hugs: The Fun Collection". Isn't she fabulous?!?! I opted to keep this card VERY simple. Can you believe I didn't add any *sparkle* to my image? Oh the horror!! Hahaha!!! I thought with the plain, notebook paper in the background...it would be too much to add the sparkly stuff. Can you believe my husband was even in shock that there was no glitter anywhere on this card...he asked me if I was feeling alright;) And to think, I didn't really believe he paid attention to me when I asked his opinion.

Well, I hope your Friday is FUN and FABULOUS!!! Thank you for dropping by, and don't forget to check out the blogs of a few of my marvie design team sisters who also wanted to share a creation using the stamps from the wonderful Sweet Meets Sassy Collection #2 by Victoria Case for SCACD. What can I say...WE ♡♡♡ THIS STAMPTACULAR COLLECTION!!!! We hope you ♡♡♡ it too:)

I am also playing along in the following fabulous challenges:

Victoria Case for SCACD - Spotlight Day 4

Happy Hump Day!!!!
I hope your week has been WONDERFUL!!!!

Today is Designer Showcase Day #4 for the AWESOME and soon-to-be-released "Sweet Meets Sassy Collection #2" by Victoria Case for SCACD:) Let me tell you this collection has something for everyone!!! Actually, it is two collections rolled into one - "Hearts & Hugs ~ The Fun Collection" AND "Retro Crew Collection #2"...but you know Susana, if you purchase both complete sets (Sweet Meets Sassy Collection #2)...you will get MUCH MORE for your MOOLAH!!! These wonderful stamps will be available for purchase on Friday, June 24th!!! And we will be showcasing a new stamp everyday until Release Day, but you will have to check the STORE BLOG to see which two designers will be spotlighting a new stamp:)

Today, Crystal and I have the pleasure of introducing you to "Rosie"!!!! Isn't she BEAUTIFUL?!?! She reminds me of June Cleaver, and takes me back to my childhood when I used to watch reruns of "Leave It To Beaver" and "The Andy Griffith Show":)  How very appropriate for her to be one of the lovely stamps from Retro Crew Collection #2....guess that means I'm now considered a relic, I mean, retro too;)

Rosie was colored with Prismacolor markers, and the hints of *sparkle* were made with "Ice Crystal" DecoArt Ultra Fine Glitter Paint...I absolutely LOVE this paint!!! It creates the most wonderful sparkle, and you know how much I ♡♡♡ sparkle!!! The fabulous polka dot papers are from the Echo Park - Dots & Stripes from the Metropolitan Collection. I am not at all a seamstress...me and my sewing machine have a very strained relationship...but I love seeing stitching on cards! My problem was solved by the wonderful Sew Easy tool:) Now, I can add a few stitches to my cards...without having to fuss with my sewing machine! And, did you see the fun button in the blossom? That was made using the 1st Impressions "Button Set 2" Mold and Hearty Air Dry Clay. I don't have the Black Hearty Clay, so I painted it with "Onyx" Creative Inspirations Paint, and pumped up the sparkle with a coating of DecoArt Ultra Fine Glitter Paint. Clay typically intimidated the heck out of me; but, with these fab molds and this lightweight clay...I have found some new, creative toys to love:) Okay! I have gone on and on enough...sorry for the rambling. Back to today's regularly scheduled program...

Would you like a chance to win "Rosie"?

All you have to do is leave me a comment before 10 p.m. eastern time June 23rd, and your name will be added to the drawing to receive this FABULOUS stamp! AND
if you would like to better YOUR chances at winning, pop on over to Crystal's AMAZING blog and leave her a comment (you know she has a beauty in store for us with all her amazing talent...and she ALWAYS  accessorizes her creations perfectly)!!!

Oldies but Goodies Blog Hop with the FB Designing DIVAS!!!

Hello, and welcome to this month's Facebook Design D.I.V.A.S "Oldies But Goodies" Blog Hop!!! You should have arrived here from Cindy's creative-alicious blog. If you didn't and arrived here first, then you will want to head on over to the start of the hop at Mary's marvelously magnificent blog. We hope to have loads of fun and inspiration to share with all of you, our crafty friends, every third Wednesday of the month (so keep your eyes open for the next FB Design D.I.V.A.S hoppity hop). Our main goal is to inspire all of our crafting friends to take out their poor, neglected items, and show them some much needed love and attention! I have a sneaking suspicion that most (if not all) of us crafters have stashed away a ton of goodies that are screaming to be used. I don't know about you...but for me, I have plenty of stamps, papers, embellies, etc. that I simply "needed" to have when I saw them...unfortunately, these goodies somehow fell into the mysterious black hole somewhere in my craft room never to be seen or heard from again. Oh the shame and the scandal!! Fortunately, the wonderful Designing D.I.V.A.S have sent out the S.O.S and all my "lost" goodies have miraculously reappeared and are being put to crafty use:)

Okay...about today's card...I absolutely ADORE this image:) Don't I remember these days...my sons' have left many fingerprints in the frosting of many cakes and cupcakes:) Of course, they never owned up to it...I suppose that's the joy of having a sibling...someone else to point a finger at and/or a partner in crime;) You would think...now that they're older (18 and 23)...the infamous fingerprints in the frosting would cease...NOPE...uh-uh...not a chance...and still passing the buck...and now Dad's in on it;) Come to think of it...he's probably been in on it all along;) Sorry...I digress.

This scrumptious image is from the "Peeker Collection" by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD and is called "Sweet Mischief Peeker".  Isn't she a cutie? I love how she is on a stool and is still having to stand on her tippy-toes:) Too stinkin' CUTE!!!! She is colored with Prismacolor markers, and all the shimmery sparkle is from Fairy Dust Creative Inspirations Paint. I also added some Diamond Glaze to the counter-top, and the frosting was made with dimensional paints (I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby). I love that it looks like real, chocolate frosting:) I'm not too sure why, but it has been in hiding for far too long...glad it came out to play! The DCWV and K&Company papers were also living in an alternate dimension...happy they decided to come back to this one;)

Okay...I have babbled enough! Your next stop on this FUNtabulous hop is beautiful Barb's incredibly inspiring and sensational blog!! We thank all of you for hopping along with us on this wonderfully blessed Wednesday!!! Have an awesome day and hope you find some time to play with the Oldies But Goodies you have stashed away:o)

Hugs!!

~Sweet Water Babies~

Happy Saturday!!!! This is going to be a super quick post as we have more celebrating to do:)  Our son, Zachary, graduated from high school last night, and we are having a few of his friends over this afternoon to continue last night's festivities. My husband and I still cannot believe our BABY boy is now all grown up!!! Where does the time go?!?! I still remember bringing him home from the hospital over 18 years ago as if it happened yesterday...not to mention his first day of kindergarten. You should have seen us boohooing as he walked across the stage, but shhhhhhh...don't let my DH know I shared that with you;)

Today's card features the ADORABLE stamp "Water Babies" form the recently released "Natural Beauty Collection" by the super talented Carmen Medlin for SCACD Stamp Co.  I absolutely adore this precious image!!! Just look at the darling faces on both the sweet mermaid and the cuddly sea lion!!! Who could resist such sweetness? Not me!! I tell ya...I could just reach in and hug those cuties:) Couldn't you?

Well, I am going to head on outta here!! I hope your weekend is filled with happiness and smiles!!! Thank you bunches for dropping by!!!

Blessings & Hugs!!!
Carolyn

I am also playing along with the following incredible challenges:

Got GOO?

Wanna be able to make your own vintage-style embellishments?

Well, does Susana have THE perfect thing for you!!! Today, she is releasing some awesome new products  that will let you do just that:)  POP on by the STORE BLOG to check out the videos Marti has created to show you how to make the most wonderful embellishments for your one-of-a-kind creations!!! And, while you're there, check out the beauties my marvelously messy sisters have created...and we all have something a bit different to show you:) So...you don't wanna miss it!

Above is a photo of a few of the vintage-style buttons I was able to create using the 1st Impression "Button Set 2" Mold and the Viva Decor Crystal Gel.  Although the color of the wet gel looks purple, it dries to this purplish-copper color. Isn't it beautiful? And look at the gorgeous detail. As you can see, especially if you click on the pic to make it larger, I don't have a crafting spatula...so a few air bubbles got in there. Fortunately, these are "vintage-style" buttons...in which case, the *popped* air bubbles add to the antiqued look...kinda like they have been used and tossed around a bit. I guess it gives them a little character...of course, that is a crafters way of not admitting to any "mistakes";) HeeHee! And that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it:)

Above is a photo of a few more buttons that were created by using the 1st Impression Mold and Hearty Lightweight Air Dry Clay.  Doesn't it look like porcelain? And this is what it looks like with nothing on it or added to it...just clay!

Above is a photo of a few more buttons made with the Hearty clay and painted with Creative Inspirations Paint.  Don't they look expensive? Just think...you will never find yourself searching for the perfect button to add to your project...you can whip up exactly what you want just for yourself:) If you're not into buttons, Susana has a large variety of 1st Impression Molds...I'm sure she has something that is ALL YOU:)

Don't these buttons look like jewelry...or aged metal embellishments? These were created with the Viva Decor Crystal Gel and Dreamweaver Mica Powders (Goldfinch). Once your gel dries...it takes about 24 hours; but for the thicker (deeper) buttons, I let it sit longer (you'll know when it's dry because the goo starts pulling away from the mold)...dab the decorative portion of the button on your Versamark pad. Then, dip your stencil brush into your favorite color Dreamweaver Mica Powder...tap off the excess into the jar...and dab it on your button. The powder sticks to all the areas the Versamark has touched, and it will stay there...it won't rub off:)

Above are a few buttons created with the Hearty clay, Dreamweaver Mica Powders (applied the same way as in the previous pic), and the added sparkle is from DecoArt Ultra Fine Glitter Paint (Ice Crystal). Aren't they dainty and elegant? And whether you choose to use the clay or the goo or BOTH, the buttons are extremely lightweight and won't make your card feel heavy. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I LOVE these fabulous, new products and being able to make my own buttons!!!!

I even used one of these handmade buttons to brighten the bow on one of my cards:) I will be posting the card later this weekend...probably Sunday. I'll share more details about the card then, but the button was made using the Viva Decor Crystal Gel and the 1st Impression Button Set 2 Mold...nothing else.

I hope you are as excited about these awesome products as I am, and don't forget to stop by the STORE BLOG to see the amazing videos Marti has created AND links to the blogs of  a few of my wonderfully talented DT sisters. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE COOLNESS THEY HAVE CREATED:):):)

Thanks for dropping by!!! Have a beautifully blessed day:)

Celebrating with Quixotic Paperie!!!

Some of the SCACD Design Team have the pleasure of joining Quixotic Paperie today to help celebrate their 2nd Anniversary, and also to throw the spotlight on SCACD Stamps, which are available in the UK at Quixotic Paperie!

Today, designers from both the SCACD Stamps and Quixotic Paperie teams are showing off creations featuring some of the gorgeous images available through SCACD Stamps.

It's not a hop, so feel free to dip in and out of the list of blogs however you please!

Here's the list of participants:

As you may be aware, SCACD Stamps is run by the lovely Susana of Susana's Custom Art & Card Design in the US.  The SCACD Stamps range is available in the UK exclusively at Quixotic Paperie.

There are three fantastic artists in the current range from SCACD Stamps - Carmen Medlin, Elisabeth Bell and Victoria Case, each with a different style.

As part of the celebrations and the spotlight today, there is a PRIZE GIVEAWAY!  Visit the Quixotic Inspirations blog for details and to enter!

For my card, I chose to use one of the beautiful stamps from the recently released "Natural Beauty Collection" by Carmen Medlin for SCACD, which can be found HERE at Quixotic Paperie. This beauty is called "Dances with Dragonflies". She is colored with Prismacolor markers and all the lovely shimmer on her dress is from Creative Inspirations paint...Autumn Wheat and Ivory. The background was created using the Dreamweaver's stencil "Vertical Dragonflies" and Viva Decor Champagne Modeling Creme. I couldn't resist using the stencil since it coordinates perfectly with this image. If you are interested in learning how I did it, let me know in the comments section, and I will whip up a photo tutorial for you. All I can say is...it is easy peasy lemon squeezy...hope you like to get a wee bit messy;)

If you look closely, you will see that I used some sparkly gold spritz over certain areas of the card...this was created using my Gold Creative Inspiration Paint. I recycled an empty spritz bottle, but you can also use the Mini Mister by Tim Holtz as well. Then, you add approximately 20% water...80% rubbing alcohol...and a few drops of paint...I add everything into my spritzer (which looks a lot like the Mini Mister) with a recycled medicine dropper. I always begin with the fewest amount of drops...spray a test sample to determine if I like the color...then, I add more paint if I need the color deeper or richer. It is always best to start out small and work your way up, this way none of the paint is wasted...you can always add more; but once it's mixed with liquid, you cannot take it out.

Well, I have gone on and on enough. Thank you for joining us, we hope you enjoyed checking out SCACD Stamps with us today! Have a wonderful day!!!!

I am also playing along in the following inspirational challenges:

Gathering Love

Good morning!!! I hope your week has been fabulous!!! And to think, today is Friday!!! Yayyyyyy!!!! Can you believe we are already into June?!?! Normally, I fuss at how quickly time seems to pass these days...but not right now. Why, you ask? Well, if all things go as planned, Jonathon will be leaving Iraq later this month and will be heading to his home in Hawaii:) I'm sure with his MOS, he will find himself sent back to the desert again...but for now...it is the countdown to coming back to the US of A:):) Then...sometime the end of June to the first part of July, he and his wonderful wife will be here in NC for a few weeks!! And for more good news, our baby boy, Zachary, will be graduating on June 10th!!! I still cannot believe my little boys are all grown up!! Yes, I am one proud and very HAPPY momma!!!! God has truly blessed us:):)

Okay, now on to today's card:) Yes...it is VERY bright!! Did you have to reach for your sunglasses? Sorry you are now seeing "blue dots", but I was feeling bright and cheerful when I was creating this card;)

This lovely image is from the recently released "Natural Beauty Collection" by Carmen Medlin for SCACD and is called ♡"Gathering Love"♡. Isn't she beautiful? She is colored with Prismacolor markers and paired with a lovely paper from the "Madeline" 6 x 6 paper pad by Prima. As for the layout, I chose to keep it very simple so this gorgeous image would take center stage and shine:) I also wanted to mention, if you purchase the entire Natural Beauty Collection (all 7 stamps) you will receive a FREE pack of Prima Tulle Roses (color will be selected by Susana). Due to the popularity of this gorgeous collection, this special has been extended and will be in effect until June 5, 2011. Free gift only available at SCACD.

I received a great deal of inspiration from the following FABULOUS challenges:
Well, I am off to do my household chores, then head on out to do some yard work....and maybe get a bit of a tan:) I hope your Friday is AMAZING and your weekend is loaded down with love and laughter!!! Thank you for dropping by:)
